Max Manner (born 1965) is a prolific author who won the prestigious Clue of the Year Award from the Finnish Whodunnit Society in 2025. Manner has achieved particular success with his thriller-style, deeply atmospheric crime novels, such as his Hirvikallio crime novel series about a Turku-based police officer, seven instalments of which have already been published. Kuollut kuin kivi kicks off the Murhaloru trilogy, which is set in the cloak-and-dagger world of publishing. The central characters are thriller author Roosa Viima and her friend, Detective Inspector Risto Vasama. Manner is a member of International Thriller Writers. He now lives in Turku, but having lived in Luxembourg for many years, he also feels at home elsewhere in Europe.
